When weather conditions cause roads to become slippery or slick, drivers have a duty to adjust speeds and behaviors accordingly. Drivers who fail to take such measures might be more susceptible to losing control and veering off course, and should a vehicle cross into oncoming lanes in the process, the results could prove catastrophic. Reports indicate that a recent car accident that occurred under similar circumstances has left one person with life-threatening injuries and claimed the life of an 83-year-old woman in Minnesota.

Crash reports

According to reports, authorities responded to the scene of a head-on crash on a recent Wednesday morning. The incident reportedly began when, for reasons unknown, the driver of a northbound truck suddenly lost control and veered across the median. Authorities say that the truck proceeded to crash into an oncoming vehicle shortly after crossing into southbound lanes.

Reports indicate that a passenger in the second vehicle passed away at the scene, while the driver of this vehicle was rushed to a hospital for treatment of injuries considered to be life-threatening. Both occupants within the truck were also transported to a medical facility. While reports indicate that road conditions may have been slick at the time, it remains unclear as to what might have caused the driver of the truck to veer into oncoming lanes of traffic.

After a crash

When the actions of another party cause a major car accident to occur, those who suffer serious injuries or sudden loss in the process may face an understandable desire for answers. Individuals in Minnesota who wish to know more about the next steps to take to seek restitution after suffering harm or loss under similar scenarios could benefit from consulting with an attorney as soon as possible. An attorney can examine the incident thoroughly, assist a client in making informed choices about the situation, and help prepare a strategy with which to pursue the full amount of restitution to which he or she is entitled to receive.
